A YouTuber's tests show that placing a graphics card directly in front of intake fans can reduce GPU core temperatures by 16.7°C.
YouTuber TrashBench tested different component layouts in a dual-chamber case. He used an Intel Core i9-14900K and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. In a standard layout, the GPU averaged 70.9°C. When he moved the GPU directly in front of the intake fans, the GPU core temperature fell by 16.7°C and the hotspot fell by 19.3°C. VRAM temperatures dropped 14.0°C. Moving the card to the bottom of the case had almost no effect on GPU thermals. Read the full experiment at Club386.
