Leaked code suggests Valve is developing an OLED refresh for the Steam Frame with higher resolution panels.
Evidence from Valve's public Linux kernel source points to an OLED Steam Frame codenamed Plano. The driver code lists panels with a native resolution of 3552x3840 per eye. This is nearly three times the pixel count of the 2160x2160 LCDs in the current model. The device reportedly uses the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and defaults to 1776x1920 per eye to maintain performance. The code mentions 90 Hz support and experiments with 120 Hz and foveated scaling. TweakTown reports the device is likely a year or more away. Read more at TechPowerUp and TweakTown.
