The Coalition released a major title update for Gears of War: E-Day on October 14, followed by a hotfix on October 22. The October 14 update included memory allocation improvements and hardware optimisations to address crashes and frame rate degradation on PC, console, and handhelds. It also resolved issues that blocked progress during solo, cooperative, and split-screen campaign sessions across all five acts. The developer noted that players who missed collectibles or completion rewards due to a tracking bug cannot have them granted retroactively. These players must check their War Journal or replay specific missions to unlock missing items.

The update also addressed Horde Siege and Versus modes, tightened server-side anti-cheat, and fixed issues with account linking, login errors, and colourblind settings. Players can now toggle off the audio chime for Campaign collectibles and use a smaller on-screen diagnostic text.

The October 22 hotfix addresses stability and gameplay bugs on PC, Xbox, and handheld devices. It fixes an issue where Xbox Cloud Gaming defaults to Quality mode instead of Performance and resolves sign-in errors triggered by wrong system date and time configurations. The Coalition states it is looking into a smoke grenade exploit alongside user complaints about freezes and crashes during long sessions. The studio is additionally evaluating community opinions regarding competitive balance while preparing patches for the first season.
