TL;DR

Linux 7.4 brings new mainline kernel support for vintage Motorola 68k systems, including specific expansion cards for Atari and Amiga computers.

Developers submitted the Motorola 68000 architecture updates for the Linux 7.4 kernel on October 19, 2026. The changes maintain support for vintage systems including Amiga, Atari, and early Macintosh hardware.

Atari Falcon030 owners using the SuperVidel FPGA expansion card gain support for the SVEthLANa Ethernet interface. Enabling this requires the ATARI_SVETHLANA configuration option. The driver depends on a user-provided ethoc module from the OpenCore Ethernet package and needs firmware version 10 or later on the SuperVidel board for Ethernet DMA operations.

Amiga users also receive new mainline kernel options for the IDE interface found on CS-Lab Warp accelerator products. This addition improves storage and connectivity for those vintage setups.
