Crusader Kings III · official art via IGDBParadox Interactive announced that the Crusader Kings III expansion, Silk & Silver, will release on November 17. The content costs $30 as a standalone purchase or is included in the Chapter V pass.
The expansion adds Merchant and Republic government types. Players using the Merchant government type lead landless families through trading companies. This role includes three specializations: Caravaneer, Creditor, or Artisan. Merchants can manage trade routes for over 40 goods, seek patrons, and improve their company headquarters to gain influence over rulers.
The Republic government type allows players to control patrician families competing for the position of doge. Players can propose laws through assemblies, set up foreign trade posts, and form Trade Leagues with other Republics.
The update includes two historical bookmarks. The 1066 bookmark focuses on medieval trade networks, while the 1178 bookmark covers the conflict between the Guelphs and Ghibellines in Northern Italy.
