Obsidian says the Grounded 2 Rot and Ruin update will arrive this fall. The update introduces a new area called the Woodpile. This area contains termites, including Workers, Soldiers, the Termite King, and O.G.R.R. variants. Obsidian says these termites feature new attacks and different behavior than the termites in the first game. The update also adds a centipede boss.

A new vehicle called the Potato Beetle Buggy is coming. Obsidian says it is larger than the Ladybug Buggy and is designed for close-range combat using projectile attacks and a Healing Roar. Players can use this vehicle to transport supplies and add items to construction plans.

Players can use a new item called the Splotcher to paint walls, floors, roofs, stairs, and doors. Obsidian is also adding higher tiers for weapons and armor. These upgrades require a new resource called Bismuth, which players can use at a new Yoking Press station. Other planned additions include new SCA.B themes, collectible miniatures, and new stations.
