TL;DR
Corsair released the RM1200e 2nd Gen power supply, which features Platinum efficiency and PinProtect technology to monitor current on individual 12V-2x6 pins.
Corsair has released the RM1200e 2nd Gen power supply. The 1200W unit features Cybenetics Certified Platinum efficiency and uses Japanese rated capacitors. It includes a 140mm rifle bearing fan with a zero RPM mode. The unit measures 150mm x 150mm x 86mm and comes with a 10-year warranty.
The power supply is the first from Corsair to include PinProtect technology for the 12V-2x6 connector. This feature tracks the electrical load on every single 12V power pin in real time rather than just measuring total power. Corsair says the system can reduce GPU power consumption or trigger a shutdown if it detects excessive current. The technology uses two thresholds: 12A per pin sustained for 15 to 25 seconds, or 18A for 200 to 300 milliseconds. PinProtect operates automatically without requiring user configuration or software.
The unit delivers 100A across the +12V rail and 20A across the +3.3V and +5V rails. While PinProtect monitors electrical current, it does not monitor connector temperature and cannot prevent all possible overheating situations.
