AMD director of client product management Travis Kirsch says the company's main battleground is the premium, high-performance gaming market. When asked about the lack of new Ryzen 3 products, Kirsch said the market size for those quad-core CPUs in the component market is not big. He noted that laptops have taken over those lower price ranges. Kirsch also mentioned design challenges for value processors, stating that the CCD+IOD configuration is not suitable for the price of a Ryzen 3, which needs integrated graphics. Kirsch did not provide a firm yes or no regarding whether AMD is abandoning the Ryzen 3 lineup.
