Super Flower has launched the VGA 12+4PIN OCP Dongle, an inline device that sits between a power supply cable and a graphics card. The dongle monitors the current on each of the six +12V lines individually. It is priced at NT$1,190, or roughly $38, in Taiwan. Reports say 12V-2x6 connectors have experienced melting issues, including on RTX 5090 cards.
The dongle uses specific logic to trigger alerts, provided a condition persists for 10 seconds. If any line sees between 9.5 A and 12 A, or if two lines differ by more than 6 A, an LED turns orange and a buzzer sounds. If a line exceeds 12 A, the LED flashes red with a continuous tone for 180 seconds, stays solid red for 15 seconds, and then triggers VGA Black Screen Protection. This protection mode remains active even if the current levels out. Super Flower does not say how the black screen is achieved or if it cuts power to the card. The company advises users to shut down the system and check cables when this occurs.
The item is presently sold solely as part of a special package alongside Leadex VIII power units. No information exists regarding individual purchases or broader availability.
