TL;DR
Overclocker Luumi set a new Cinebench R11.5 world record for the Intel Core i5-4670K by running the chip at 6,301MHz. The new score of 10.80 points breaks a record that stood for about 12 years.
Overclocker Luumi has set a new Cinebench R11.5 world record for the Intel Core i5-4670K, according to reports. Using liquid nitrogen to cool the Haswell quad-core chip, Luumi achieved a frequency of 6,301MHz and a multi-threaded score of 10.80 points. This result replaces a 12-year-old record of 10.76 points set by Strat at 6,249MHz. The new score is one of 187 submissions in the HWBOT category.
The test rig included an ASRock Z97 OC Formula motherboard, a Corsair AXi 1600W power supply, and a Corsair Force GT SSD. Luumi used 4GB of XPG DDR3 memory running at 2,708MT/s with 8-12-7-28 timings, which was cooled with air. The run took place on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
The 6,301MHz frequency is roughly 66% above the 3.8GHz boost clock of the 22nm Intel chip. While this is a category record for the i5-4670K, reports say a modern 12-core laptop in quiet mode can score approximately four times higher in Cinebench R11.5.
