Oblivion Remastered beta mod by Claude boosts FPS and reduces stuttering
TL;DR
A beta mod built by Anthropic's Claude AI provides performance fixes for Oblivion Remastered, increasing frame rates by up to 25% in CPU-limited scenarios.
A beta mod created by Anthropic's AI model, Claude, provides performance fixes for Oblivion Remastered. The mod functions as a single DLL that modifies approximately forty specific areas of the game code in memory. These changes target how the engine processes work without changing the visual settings, view distance, or ray-traced lighting.
The mod increases frame rates by 22-25% when the CPU is the limiting factor. It also adds support for AMD FSR 3.1.4 frame generation, which reportedly provides a 22-29% increase in rendered FPS. During a 4K Imperial City flight with frame generation enabled, FPS increased from 72 to 102, while hitches of 50 ms or more dropped from 19.5 to 4.8 per flight. Players may also see menus open 0.15-0.3 s faster at 4K.
The update aims to reduce stuttering by moving tasks like physics preparation, character animation processing, and cell unloading to helper threads. The mod is currently in beta and has been tested on one PC using an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and a Radeon RX 9070 XT. While the Steam build 19115871 is the primary target, the Game Pass build is supported experimentally. Parallel translation remains disabled on graphics cards with less than 9.5 GB of VRAM.
