Microsoft says October Windows 11 update makes AirPods pair 15 seconds faster

Microsoft says the October 2026 Update for Windows 11 includes a Bluetooth upgrade that makes AirPods pair up to 15 seconds faster. Performance varies depending on the AirPods model, device configuration, and usage, Microsoft noted. The update also helps Bluetooth headphones function better by improving audio quality, phone calls, and device reconnections.

Users can check if they have the fixes by verifying if their build number is 26300.9711, 26200.9711, 26100.9711, or higher in the System About settings. Microsoft says this is a gradual rollout.

In a separate issue, reports say the October 13 update KB5127648 for Windows 11 versions 24H2, 25H2, and 26H2 blocks the Smart App Control security feature. This feature uses a cloud service to screen applications for dangerous executables.
