Nomadic Games and Rising Tide Publishing announced that the wuxia hack-and-slash action RPG Burning Sword: Death Sun will enter Steam Early Access on November 17, 2026. Reports say the game is expected to spend 6 months in Early Access. The initial version will include five story stages from the first 2 of 5 planned chapters, an endless Arena Mode, and 5 main bosses plus 2 secret bosses.

The developers plan to release new chapters, stages, bosses, abilities, and narrative elements every 8 weeks, with smaller gameplay adjustments in between. A detailed development roadmap is planned for release after the Early Access launch. The full version should include 12 handcrafted stages across 5 chapters, 9 named bosses, 2 secret bosses, and elite enemies.

Set in 12th-century China, the game centers on Zhang Yixian, head of the Crimson Dust Demon Sect, on a quest for retribution against Gao Tianqi. Combat focuses on melee attacks, martial arts, and Qi-based abilities. Players can activate a Burning Sword to increase damage by building a Power Gauge through successful attacks. Character growth relies on gathering items for passive perks and opening new talent paths after defeating bosses, while a resurrection power can also be unlocked by sacrificing an equipped skill.
