Respawn says Apex Legends will add legend banning for Diamond+ players in Season 31 and scoring adjustments for wide-skill lobbies.
Apex Legends · official art via IGDBRespawn says Apex Legends will introduce several updates to Ranked mode across Season 31, starting in November, and Season 32, planned for early 2027.
In Season 31, Diamond+ matches will feature a Legend Banning system. During a pre-match phase, each player selects one Legend for a potential ban. The system determines a percentage chance for each selected Legend to be banned based on the total votes received. The system then randomly selects banned Legends, which players cannot pick during the Legend Selection phase. This feature will be enabled alongside Drop Zone deployment.
The developer is also adjusting scoring for lobbies with wide skill gaps. Each match will display a Lobby Tier based on the median of all squads upon loading. Squads that are two or more Rank Tiers above this median will enter Goliath matches with increased entry costs. Squads two or more tiers below the median will enter Challenger matches with reduced entry costs.
These changes are part of a broader roadmap that includes new Iron, Emerald, and Grandmaster ranks, a Pro-Am League, and an overhaul of ranked rewards. Respawn says more changes are planned beyond Season 32.
