Netflix reportedly offered $500 million for seven years of exclusive Xbox film and TV rights, but Xbox requested $800 million instead.

Netflix reportedly offered Microsoft $500 million for exclusive film and TV adaptation rights to Xbox intellectual property over a seven-year period, according to a report from Puck. The deal reportedly collapsed after Xbox CEO Asha Sharma and her team countered with a request for $800 million. Netflix CFO Spence Neumann reportedly believed the price was too high.

The offer, which came from former Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria, is reportedly off the table following Bajaria's recent departure from the company. She is being replaced by Peter Rice. Xbox did not confirm the specific details of the negotiations but told Puck that the division has received "record-breaking interest" and remains excited about new adaptations.

While the exclusive deal did not happen, Netflix and Xbox are still working on several projects. These include a live-action Gears of War production and animated series for Minecraft and Diablo.
