Jez Corden reports that Xbox could abandon its superhero project even near the end of development to sidestep heavy licensing expenses and poor sales risks.

According to insider Jez Corden, Xbox might drop Marvel’s Blade to dodge a Wolverine-style problem. While the title is said to be nearly finished, Corden states the firm could scrap it to improve financial statements.

Corden claims Marvel licensing fees significantly impact profit margins. Because of this, high sales are required to recover development and licensing expenses before Microsoft sees a profit. Corden notes that nobody outside of Microsoft knows the internal budget, quality, or projected sales for the project.

Corden also mentions that strict French labor laws might compel Microsoft to keep Arkane Lyon operating if maintaining the studio and project costs less than closing them down.
