Helen Chiang is leaving Microsoft three months after taking the role of Xbox chief operating officer. Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma stated in an internal memo that Chiang is leaving the company and thanked her for her years of service. The company has not provided a reason for the departure. Xbox VP of communications Kari Perez said the company does not discuss individual personnel matters.

Chiang joined Microsoft in 2005 and moved to Xbox in 2007. The role was established in July by Sharma during an Xbox overhaul involving comprehensive profit and loss duties for hardware, platform, content, and services. Sharma says Chiang's duties will be split among other Xbox leaders until plans for a successor are finalized.

This exit occurs alongside a reset that includes approximately 3,200 job cuts by the end of fiscal year 2027, with hundreds of jobs already gone.
