Strategic Entertainment says Chase the King will launch on Steam on November 20, 2026, for $5.99. A free demo is also planned. The title offers a ranked leaderboard where match difficulty can reach 3200+ Elo. Players can collect and customize pieces, boards, and backgrounds, though Strategic Entertainment says these cosmetics do not affect gameplay.
Founder Erik Reynolds notes that certain initial pieces utilize the Chess Game Creator plugin, whereas Blender handles sculpting new ones. Current backgrounds use generative AI, but the developer plans to introduce 100 human-made backgrounds. Strategic Entertainment says selected community submissions could earn $100 each, depending on available revenue.
