CDPR says half of the quest team working on the upcoming Cyberpunk 2 consists of former modders. Associate director Paweł Sasko explains that these developers were hired after building mods for earlier studio titles like The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3.
The studio shared the detail during a REDstreams presentation covering the Cyberpunk 2077 version 2.5 update. That update introduces cross-platform mod support for PC and consoles. Players can browse and install gameplay, narrative, and cosmetic mods directly inside the game. An in-game menu lets users toggle individual mods on and off. Sasko describes the process as a reliable gateway for rookie developers to transition into professional game development.
