Wintory describes the music as narratively speculative because he says he knew nothing about the story for the game at the time. He intended the tracks as a pitch to explore where the franchise could go next. He says the music is a conceptual homage to the original Mass Effect soundtrack that uses more complex orchestral integration and analog synths. Each track in the video includes a message from Wintory regarding his inspiration.
