TL;DR

CachyOS developers are working on an optional linux-cachyos-eac kernel to support Epic Games' Easy Anti-Cheat Linux v2 standards.

CachyOS developers are working on a new kernel named linux-cachyos-eac to support Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) Linux v2. CachyOS founder Peter Jung says the team has ordered hardware to assist with signing secure boot keys. The kernel will be an optional, opt-in feature for the desktop environment. Peter Jung also noted that users on standard Arch Linux will be able to install packages to access this support.

The implementation of EAC Linux v2 requires security features that CachyOS says will break certain system customizations. These restrictions include the use of unsigned kernel modules, PCI passthrough, Hibernation, and Kdump. To address these changes, CachyOS plans to update its documentation with a guide for setting up Secure Boot. The developers intend to make the kernel easy to access via a button in cachy hello.
