Xbox October 2026 console update adds 1440p Remote Play and Mythic achievements

Microsoft released the Xbox October 2026 console update on October 28. The patch grants a permanent Mythic status badge to users who unlock all base goals. Achievements added later via downloadable content do not count toward this requirement.

Compatible hardware can run Remote Play at up to 1440p with enhanced video quality. The update also adds local search options within My games & apps, official club achievement lists, and profile gaming tabs. Players can now select custom console startup animations, view and delete unused local game saves, and pin up to five badges to their public profiles while hiding individual ones.

Cloud gaming integration automatically places played titles into the Games section. Network connections permitting, background downloads may proceed during active streaming sessions. The patch additionally resolves startup black screens, interrupted downloads, continuous Home interface refreshes, and performance drops with large game libraries.
