Nintendo declares November 1 Pikmin Day and announces Pikmin 4 demo

Nintendo has officially designated November 1 as Pikmin Day. During a Pikmin Day Direct presentation, Shigeru Miyamoto announced that Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy will release on November 12, 2026. A trial version featuring a standard area along with a pair of Dandori Academy stages arrives on November 2, 2026. Fans can transfer save data from this trial to the full game. Nintendo also scheduled a Nintendo Treehouse Plays: Pikmin presentation for November 1, 2026, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET.

The Switch 2 version of Pikmin 4 features improved visuals and uses the console microphone for commands like telling Oatchi to rush or go to work. The Dandori Academy portion consists of time trials where participants can post their best scores on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Pikmin Bloom will receive a Secret Caves update in Winter 2026. Users can find maps for these caves via postcards or by playing Pikmin 4. In these locations, users send Pikmin to battle creatures and collect treasure. Participants can direct them to fight or whistle them back, though they retreat to recover when taking heavy damage.

Nintendo is also launching a Hello Pikmin short film series in partnership with Nintendo Pictures. The initial film debuted during the showcase, with another arriving on November 1 and a third in December. Monthly episodes will follow starting in December. These shorts will appear via the Nintendo Today app and other channels. While all mainline Pikmin games are playable on Switch and Switch 2, Pikmin 1 and 2 are only available via individual eShop purchases and were not mentioned for the Nintendo Switch Online service.
