Stranger Than Heaven reveals cheat items and January 15 release date

RGG Studio says Stranger Than Heaven will release on January 15, 2027, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game is a prequel to the Like a Dragon/Yakuza series but features different characters and new locations.

Producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto says the game includes cheat items available at the start, such as health regeneration and items that allow players to clear encounters using only basic left and right punches. These items are technically garments, so Sakamoto says others will immediately notice when they are equipped. While these items provide support for beginners, Sakamoto says the highest difficulty remains extremely challenging.

The combat system lets players manage left and right strikes independently using controller bumpers and triggers. RGG Studio says the team fine-tuned difficulty balance and control responsiveness following player feedback from hands-on demos at events like Gamescom Asia. The game will also feature a tutorial in the early stages.
