A group led by Silver Lake Partners and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has reportedly held talks to acquire Unity Software, according to reports. The discussions involved a valuation of approximately $25 billion, though no decision has been made. Unity is currently evaluating its options with an investment bank.
The potential deal could change terms or not happen at all, reports say. While the proposed valuation is around $25 billion, Unity's market capitalization reached approximately $21.5 billion following its latest earnings report. Silver Lake currently owns about 8% of Unity. Silver Lake CEO Egon Durban sits on the Unity board and would likely have to remove himself from any discussions regarding a sale.
The investors in this consortium recently completed a $55 billion acquisition of Electronic Arts in August.
