GOG announced during its first Showcase that GOG Galaxy will officially support Linux in 2027. This is part of a new release for all platforms that includes reworked versions for Windows and macOS. GOG says these updates aim to make the client faster and provide cleaner ways to view game libraries. The shown design for these new views is still in development.
GOG says the client remains entirely optional, and users can continue to use DRM-free offline installers to download and keep games without the launcher. While GOG has not specified which Linux distributions will be supported or if features like cloud saves and achievements will be available at launch, the company also did not clarify if the client will use Wine or Proton to run Windows games. Users can sign up for a Beta on the GOG anniversary page when it becomes available.
