Fate of the Galaxy · official art via IGDBThe game is a total conversion mod based on the open-source FreeSpace Open engine. Players do not need to own FreeSpace 2 to play. It features over 64 flyable ships with modeled cockpits and includes factions for the Galactic Empire, the Rebel Alliance, and independent adventurers.
Content includes interconnected story campaigns, standalone missions, arcade and training modes, and local network multiplayer. The developers included the FRED mission editor for players to create and share missions. Controls support mouse and keyboard, gamepads, joysticks, head tracking, and VR.
The developers say the game is an unofficial project not affiliated with Disney or Lucasfilm. Version 1.1.0 added gamepad support, and version 1.1.1 launched on November 2 with fixes. The team plans to add new ships, missions, and expanded dynamic campaigns.
