GOG senior business development and partnerships manager Marcin Paczynski says the company has ambitions to sell physical copies of games, though he notes it requires publisher approvals and logistical planning.

GOG senior business development and partnerships manager Marcin Paczynski says the company has ambitions to sell physical versions of games. Paczynski describes a scenario where customers select a game from their digital library on GOG and order a physical copy to be delivered. This idea has been discussed at GOG for years, but Paczynski says implementation faces challenges. Distributing physical media would require additional approvals from publishers and involves complex logistics and storage requirements.

As a step toward this goal, the GOG Preservation Program added printable game covers and 3D scans of physical boxes in September. These scans include full-size templates for home printing and interactive 3D models for Windows and Mac. The first titles included in this initiative are Myst, Descent, Hitman: Codename 47, Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, and Armikrog.

Background In October, the company began testing player interest in physical media by providing printable big box files for five classic games. Our earlier story
