Switch 2 exclusives boot on PC, iPhone, and original Switch hardware
TL;DR
Programmers have successfully booted newer console exclusives on personal computers, smartphones, and previous-generation hardware.
Following a recent jailbreak for Nintendo's newer console, programmers have shown several titles working on alternative hardware. On personal computers, an experimental program called Eden-NX2 launched near the end of October 2026. This software boots Mario Kart World along with Donkey Kong Bananza, though players encounter heavy lag and visual anomalies. Playing these games demands a machine running Windows 10 or 11, alongside a graphics card supporting Vulkan with eight gigabytes of video memory, plus sixteen gigabytes of system memory. Users must supply their own game files and system keys. Furthermore, Donkey Kong Bananza stays below sixty frames per second, and missing shaders can cause certain assets to vanish entirely. Additional creators are contributing to related projects, including tests involving Splatoon Raiders.
Another programmer showcased Mario Kart World functioning on an Apple smartphone using a customized version of nxnative. This test utilized slightly under 6.5 gigabytes of memory via a file-backed configuration. The creator confirmed the source code will remain private.
Separately, a modder posted videos showing games from the newer platform adapted to run on the original hardware. Mario Kart World achieves steady performance when utilizing reduced detail settings and lowered rendering quality. Another adapted title, Pokemon Pokopia, operates at high definition with thirty frames per second when using an overclocked original console, although the experience cannot be finished from start to end yet.
Background In October, an open-source project named nxnative was released to run original Nintendo Switch games natively on Apple hardware. Our earlier story
