The new league features rituals at coven cauldrons where users can claim fates to use against area bosses. While every choice boosts potential loot, it also raises the challenge, and a maximum of three choices can apply to one boss. Defeating empowered enemies leaves trophies that players can impale on the Wickerman to grant permanent character buffs via four parts: head, arm, body, and leg. At higher Atlas tiers, darker fates provide the only route to the Queen of the Coven.

Mirage is now a permanent mechanic that more than doubles the area to explore in affected maps. Three other older mechanics will also appear randomly on maps of any tier. The endgame map system is changing as Scarabs are removed and replaced by Threads of Creation, which drop from ten older league features. Users may allocate up to eight of these items via the map device to boost both challenge and payout. Finishing Atlas quests lets users access three slots ensuring specific features appear in a map.

Grinding Gear Games is also rebuilding the Atlas passive tree to include basic effects previously tied to Scarabs. Loot updates mean magic and rare gear will drop at designated levels, while tier-five magic items can show up as fractured bases.
