TL;DR
AMD announced FSR 4.1 support for Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards, Xbox Series X and S, and several mobile APUs.
AMD is expanding FSR 4.1 support to its Radeon RX 6000 series products, spanning hardware from high-end boards down to the RX 6400 tier. Jack Huynh, AMD's Senior Vice President and General Manager of Computing and Graphics, says the company optimized the code path and tuned the machine learning model to improve performance and image quality on this hardware. Because RX 6000 cards lack dedicated AI hardware, the technology will run on the shader cores.
The upscaling technology is also coming to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles and ASUS ROG Ally and Ally X handhelds. Xbox Chief Technology Officer Scott Van Vliet says the feature will arrive soon. AMD also announced FSR 4.1 support for its Ryzen AI Max "Strix Halo" and "Gorgon Halo" APUs, Ryzen AI 9 "Strix Point" and "Gorgon Point" mobile processors, and Ryzen Z2 series handheld chips. For these mobile and handheld devices, AMD says it developed a machine learning model that is less than half the size of its original M8 model. Support is also planned for ASUS ROG Strix Halo machines, the ROG Flow Z13, and the TUF A14.
AMD is bringing FSR 4.1 to the Vulkan API to help developers implement the technology in more titles. The company says FSR Redstone is currently available in over 400 games on Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards. Furthermore, the corporation is developing enhancements for frame generation to secure steadier frame pacing while expanding ray regeneration support to additional games. While AMD has announced plans for more APU models, it has not specified which ones.
