TL;DR

Reports say developer Gezine has accessed the PS5 debug menu on firmware 14.10, a version that may be required to boot GTA VI.

Reports state that developer Gezine has managed to compromise PlayStation 5 firmware 14.10. Gezine shared video showing access to the console's debug settings menu, which confirms a working kernel-level exploit. This development is significant because backend datamines suggest GTA VI will require at least firmware 14.10 to boot when it launches on November 19, 2026.

While the exploit exists, technical hurdles remain for piracy. Reports indicate that software built for version 14.00 and higher still need a functional hypervisor bypass to be decrypted. Sony patched the previous Byepervisor Reborn method in recent updates, and a new hypervisor exploit is still needed to create playable backups of new releases. Gezine is keeping the exploit files private for now.

Separately, hacker ZigZagBoi1 is researching kernel vulnerabilities in firmware 14.10. ZigZagBoi1 is using an open-source GitHub repository to document research and is seeking AI assistance to identify kernel pointer patterns and defeat KASLR. ZigZagBoi1 aims to dump GTA VI files to run the game on PC via emulation or translation. This project has a hardware funding goal of 350 CA Dollars, with 293.05 CA Dollars raised so far.
