Sony Interactive Entertainment may have acquired the Kena IP from Ember Lab. A PlayStation x LISA advertisement released on October 20 featured footage from Kena: Scars of Kosmora with copyright text identifying Sony Interactive Entertainment as the IP owner. The original announcement trailer from February 13, 2026, credited Ember Lab as the IP owner. Neither Sony Interactive Entertainment nor Ember Lab has publicly confirmed an agreement regarding the ownership of the Kena franchise. Some reports suggest Sony may have also acquired Ember Lab, but this remains a rumor.

Ember Lab previously announced that the release of Kena: Scars of Kosmora has been moved to 2027. The developer said the delay is to allow for a larger scope and to improve upon the quality of Kena: Bridge of Spirits. The game is planned for PS5 and Windows PC.
