Nintendo policy reportedly prevents game-key card reprints as full cartridges

VGP says a Nintendo policy prevents publishers from reprinting Switch 2 game-key card titles as full cartridges.
VGP says a Nintendo policy prevents publishers from reprinting Switch 2 titles released as game-key cards as full cartridges. The retailer stated on social media that they would try to release full cartridge versions of existing game-key card titles, but a policy from Nintendo currently stops that from happening.
Game-key cards do not contain game data and require users to download the full game from the internet before it is playable. Traditional physical cartridges allow players to play the game immediately upon insertion. Nintendo has not confirmed the existence of this policy. VGP's claims were made in social media posts that have since been deleted.
