TL;DR

ASUS says coil whine is not a defect and rejected a warranty claim for an RTX 5080 TUF OC.

ASUS rejected a warranty claim and an inspection request for an RTX 5080 TUF OC after a user reported loud coil whine. ASUS says the noise does not constitute a hardware defect. The owner, Huzz95, purchased the card as a second-hand unit from Amazon UK for €1,340, which is nearly $1,500. The card was about four months old at the time of the claim. Huzz95 reported that Amazon UK refused to assist because they were not the original buyer. Huzz95 also stated that the video provided to ASUS did not fully demonstrate the volume of the noise.

Background On October 20, Asus increased the factory prices of all RTX 5080 models by 1,000 yuan. Our earlier story
