Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered adds online play and UE5 graphics
TL;DR
Atari and Pipeworks Studios say Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered features new online multiplayer and graphics updated with Unreal Engine 5.
Atari and Pipeworks Studios are releasing a remaster of Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee. The developers say the title is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 because of retail demand, though a release for the original Switch is possible in the future.
The remaster uses Unreal Engine 5 and includes a new online multiplayer mode. Pipeworks Studios says the team built new character models but skinned them to the original skeletons to ensure gameplay remains identical. The developers used the original building geometry for environments but updated the textures and materials. All other elements, such as menus and HUD, were built from scratch.
The game replaces the original currency-based unlock system with a points-based system that contains no micro-transactions. Players earn research points through local or online play to unlock characters and battlegrounds. Players start with 4 research projects and must complete rumors to find more. Four developers from the original 12-person team are working on the project.
