id Software leaders Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin say the studio is working more closely with MachineGames on technology following layoffs in July that resulted in about half the staff exiting. Reports say most of the id Tech engine team was included in those layoffs.
Stratton said the studio is focusing on its next major project, though he would not discuss details. He noted that horde mode for the Doom: The Dark Ages – Revelations DLC was built in-house by the current team, as was its cinematic trailer. The Revelations DLC launched on July 7 and provides between 10 and 12 hours of content. Stratton said there are no plans for an additional game for Revelations and offered no update on a multiplayer edition.
