Eben Upton announced the Raspberry Pi 5 16 GB price is increasing by $80 to $385 due to a lack of alternative 16 GB DRAM supply.
Eben Upton announced that the Raspberry Pi 5 16 GB price is increasing by $80 to $385. This follows a January 2025 launch price of $120. The 16 GB variants of the Compute Module 5 are also rising by $40. The Raspberry Pi 500+ 16 GB keyboard computer is staying at its current price of $410.
Upton says the increase is due to a lack of alternative supply for the 16 GB DRAM package used by the board, alongside other component shortages. The Raspberry Pi Foundation intends to roll these prices back once memory costs decrease.
The 8 GB Raspberry Pi 5 currently costs $175, while the 4 GB model is $110. Moving from the 8 GB to the 16 GB model now costs $210. This follows a previous price increase on October 1, when the 2 GB Raspberry Pi 4 and Pi 5 models each rose by $12.50.
