TL;DR

Thermal Grizzly's new PhaseSheet PTM Pro thermal sheet features improved conductivity and a new carrier film for easier installation, available in 40x40 mm sizes for $23.28.

Thermal Grizzly has launched the PhaseSheet PTM Pro, a phase change material thermal sheet designed to offer higher thermal conductivity than the original PhaseSheet PTM. The product uses an optimized composition and a new carrier film that Thermal Grizzly says is easier to remove from both sides to reduce the risk of tearing the sheet during installation.

The material is solid at room temperature but liquefies at temperatures above 45 °C. Thermal Grizzly says a high mounting force of approximately 300-400 N is required to achieve the thinnest possible layer and optimal distribution. Once the material reaches its liquid state, it has a low viscosity, and it transitions back to a solid state as the system cools. This process is intended to mitigate the pump-out effect, where traditional thermal pastes are pushed out from between a chip and a cooler due to thermal expansion cycles. The pad achieves its final placement after roughly ten heating phases where the processor exceeds 60 degrees Celsius.

The PhaseSheet PTM Pro is electrically non-conductive, making it suitable for use on processors and graphics chips. The 40x40 mm sheets are available for $23.28 or €19.90 on the Thermal Grizzly website.
