Jaykihn reports that Intel's upcoming Nova Lake-S desktop processors will limit maximum core frequencies to 5.1 GHz when temperatures exceed 90°C. This limit is reportedly unadjustable and separate from standard 100°C thermal throttling.
Intel's upcoming Core Ultra 4000 Nova Lake-S desktop processors will reportedly limit their maximum core frequency to 5.1 GHz when running above 90°C, according to leaker Jaykihn on X. Every model in the upcoming desktop series is affected, operating independently from traditional 100°C TjMax thermal throttling. Jaykihn says the 90°C threshold cannot be adjusted or raised by users. These claims are preliminary, and Intel has not confirmed them. The Nova Lake-S lineup is expected to arrive in Q1 2027.
