A leaked Microsoft slide outlines an upcoming hardware roadmap that categorizes Windows personal computers according to system memory tiers.
A leaked Microsoft slide from November 3 reveals upcoming hardware for its Hybrid Intelligence roadmap. The presentation categorizes Windows PCs by system memory rather than processing power.
Tier 0 devices have 8GB of memory and use AMD Ryzen 100 and 200 series, Intel Core Series 3 and 4, or Qualcomm Snapdragon C, X, and X Plus chips. Microsoft claims Windows 11 multi-tasking on 8GB devices is up to 40% faster.
Tier 1 Copilot+ devices are split by memory. The 16GB and 32GB models use Intel Core Ultra Series 3 and 4, AMD Ryzen AI 400 and 500, or Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Plus, X Elite, and X Extreme processors. The Ryzen AI 500 is possibly based on Zen 6 architecture and the Core Ultra 4 is based on Nova Lake. The 64GB models in this tier use AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 400, Nvidia RTX Spark N1X, and an unnamed Intel Core Ultra Next chip.
Tier 2 and 3 devices have 128GB of memory or more. Tier 3 lists upcoming Intel Crescent Island D-Series GPUs based on the Xe3P architecture. Microsoft says these GPUs feature up to 480GB of LPDDR5X memory, 1.5TB/s of bandwidth, and 1.3-petaflop of FP8 compute power to handle models with up to 300 billion parameters.
