TL;DR

Developer Jose Coixao says the Prolapse exploit did not result in memory corruption, making a jailbreak for firmware 14.00 and 14.10 unlikely.

Developer Jose Coixao says the Prolapse exploit failed to confirm a PlayStation 5 jailbreak for firmware 14.00 and 14.10. While the exploit targets the aio_multi_delete function to manage console memory, testing did not produce the memory corruption required for the method to work. This makes a jailbreak for those specific versions less likely.

Sony patched the vulnerability used by Prolapse in firmware 14.20 and released firmware 14.22 on November 2 with further security fixes. Other projects like Relapse and Byepervisor-Reborn remain limited to firmware 13.60. Although Gezin reached the debug settings menu on firmware 14.10, reports say this does not confirm a complete jailbreak. Additionally, PlayStation Network requires firmware 14.10 for users to sign in.

Separately, Sony says it is recommitting to the China Hero Project in its fourth phase. The company is providing an additional $1 million to many titles within the project.
