TL;DR

A new mod allows AMD Radeon RX 6000, 7000, and 9000 series GPUs to use Nvidia DLSS 5 features like Ray Reconstruction and Multi-Frame Generation.

A modder has released DLSS-NR-on-AMD v0.8.0, which brings Nvidia DLSS 5 features to AMD Radeon RX 9000, 7000, and 6000 series GPUs. The mod includes DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution (Models M and L), Ray Reconstruction (Model F), and up to 4x Multi-Frame Generation. It also includes FSR 4.1 as an option. The developer says the mod is a full reimplementation of Nvidia's neural network runtimes written from scratch for AMD architectures. Users must provide their own DLL files for the Nvidia technologies.

The mod is currently in an alpha phase and primarily targets DirectX 12 games on Windows 11. While the developer claims the RX 9070 XT can run DLSS 5 Neural Rendering at 90-100fps, players report mixed results. Some users noticed no performance degradation in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p with path tracing, while others reported performance hits of up to 25%. One player reported that switching from FSR 4.1 to DLSS 4.5 dropped frames from 120fps to 90fps, and adding Ray Reconstruction dropped them further to 68fps. Reports say Alan Wake 2, Resident Evil 9, and Pragmata do not work with the mod.

Background In October, the developer released version 0.8.0 which adds support for RDNA 4 and RDNA 3 GPUs. Our earlier story
