TL;DR

Developer levi says the new Utsuro project runs Xbox One software on Apple hardware without traditional emulation.

A developer known as levi announced Utsuro, a project designed to run Xbox One games on Apple devices. Instead of emulating the console hardware, the project runs the Windows-based software layer as x86-64 code on Arm chips using FEXCore. Graphics use the Metal API by converting Direct3D 11.X shaders to Metal's shader language, while audio runs via CoreAudio.

The project is in an early stage. Levi says Minecraft: Xbox One Edition runs extremely well, and GitHub reports the Mac build reaches 36 to 60 FPS. Sonic Mania is reported as playable at around 57 FPS with sound on Mac. Rocket League currently renders and drives at roughly 15 to 20 FPS on Mac with no audio and dark lighting.

iOS users must sideload the app and use a decrypted game dump. The device also needs a jailbreak or a JIT helper such as TrollStore or StikDebug. The macOS version currently requires being built from source.
