TL;DR
Geekbench 7 results for an AMD EPYC 9996 CPU using Zen 6c cores show a 16.49% single-threaded performance increase over a Zen 5 Ryzen 7 9700X at 4.1 GHz.
Geekbench 7 results for an AMD EPYC 9996 CPU using Zen 6c cores show a single-threaded score of 2,847. This score is 16.49% higher than the 2,444 score achieved by a 4.1 GHz Zen 5 Ryzen 7 9700X. When splitting the score into 15 individual tests, the Zen 6c CPU showed single-threaded gains between 8.2% and 25.7% over Zen 5 at 4.1 GHz. The largest gains occurred in HTML5 Browser, Photo Editor, Structure and Motion, and Video Player, while the lowest gains were in File Compression and Clang.
The Zen 6c architecture also shows an IPC increase of approximately 23.36% when comparing normalized frequencies. This is based on the Zen 5 EPYC 4545P achieving a single-threaded score of 3,064 at up to 5.47 GHz. While the 4545P score is 7.6% higher than the Zen 6c score, its clock speed is 32.77% faster.
These results use Zen 6c cores rather than the Zen 6 cores expected in desktop Ryzen CPUs. Additionally, the CPUs in these comparisons use different platforms and core configurations. Clock speeds for upcoming Zen 6 desktop CPUs are not shared.
