Playden alpha lets jailbroken PS5 run Steam games locally
TL;DR
Developer leolobato has released Playden for PS5, an alpha launcher that allows jailbroken consoles to download and run Windows Steam games locally.
A new alpha launcher called Playden for PS5 lets users run Windows Steam games directly on a jailbroken console without using a PC for streaming. Developer leolobato released the tool to allow users to sign into Steam via QR code, browse their libraries, and launch games as individual tiles on the PS5 home screen. The software uses a PS5 port of Wine called prospero-win, with DXVK, Zink, or VKD3D-Proton handling graphics.
The software is currently in alpha and requires a PS5 running firmware 13.60 with a working jailbreak. Users must also use specific payloads including kstuff, ShadowMountPlus, and an ELF loader. While more than 40 games are reportedly working, most are older or indie titles. Games requiring kernel-level anti-cheat or external launchers like the EA app are not supported.
Leolobato notes that Steam authentication tokens remain unencrypted locally. Because the tool interacts with Steam Cloud, a bug could overwrite saves, so users are advised to back up their data first. Recent updates have added support for 4K resolution, 120 Hz output, and game imports via USB or FTP.
