The update introduces a run-based mode set inside Doctor Doom's fortress. Players must fight through the stronghold to stop Doom from activating the Cosmic Inductor before a Siege Gauge fills completely. Player deaths cause the gauge to rise. Dotemu and Tribute Games note that castle forces grow stronger as the meter rises, and a full gauge ends the run instantly.
Participants can navigate various paths inside the stronghold and gather Battery Cells to charge a Stabilizer created by Reed Richards. The mode features 12 perks providing tactical, defensive, and offensive enhancements. Unsuccessful trials apply debuffs to characters, while successful runs unlock permanent equipment, events in Reed's Lab, and difficulty modifiers.
The expansion also introduces Susan Storm and Doctor Doom as characters users can select. Defeating Doom grants fresh color palettes for every superhero. Composer Tee Lopes supplies original music for the release. Dotemu and Tribute Games previously reported that the base co-op beat 'em up surpassed 1.5 million players.
