TL;DR

XPG's CORE REACTOR III series features XTREME Power Guard technology to monitor current on the 12V-2x6 connector.

XPG announced the CORE REACTOR III Gold fully modular power supply series on October 27. The lineup includes 750W, 850W, and 1000W models that support Intel ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards.

The series includes XTREME Power Guard technology, which XPG says provides continuous current monitoring through the 12V-2x6 connector. The system uses LED warnings to prevent potential thermal issues. An orange flashing LED indicates a detected current imbalance, while a red flashing LED indicates an overcurrent condition. During an overcurrent state, the unit can shut off power via the 12V-2x6 port. XPG also uses a colored connector to help users see if the cable is fully inserted.

All models are 80 Plus Gold certified and feature a 135mm fluid dynamic bearing fan and main Japanese 105°C-rated capacitors. The 12V-2x6 connector is rated for up to 600W. XPG says the units can handle power excursions up to 235% of their rated output for 100 microseconds. The series includes eight protection mechanisms and a 10-year limited warranty. XPG has not released prices, specific current thresholds, or a regional rollout schedule.
