TL;DR
Acer's Predator Atlas 8 handheld returns to Best Buy on November 1 with an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor and 24GB of RAM.
Acer says the Predator Atlas 8 gaming handheld will return to Best Buy for online orders on November 1 at a price of $1,299.99. The device is an exclusive US retailer offering. Initial pre-orders sold out immediately, though Acer has not stated how many units were in that first batch.
The handheld uses an Intel Arc G3 Extreme SoC, which is a Panther Lake variant featuring 14 CPU cores and Intel Arc B390 graphics with 12 Xe3 GPU cores. It includes 24GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD. An 8-inch 120Hz IPS touchscreen with a 1920 x 1200 resolution and VRR support is built into the device. Acer lists the battery at 80Wh with up to nine hours of runtime.
The system runs Windows 11 Home and supports Steam and Xbox Game Pass. It features two Thunderbolt 4 ports, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and a microSD card slot. Controls consist of TMR joysticks and dual-mode triggers that switch between short presses and an analog pull.
Reports say the Predator Atlas 8 should perform nearly identically to the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+, which costs about $1,800 and includes 32GB of memory and a 1TB SSD. Benchmarks from ETA PRIME show the Acer device reaching up to 80fps in Forza Horizon 6 at 1200p medium settings without upscaling, and up to 70fps in Spider-Man at 1200p medium settings using XeSS quality.
