TL;DR

Apple's new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display uses a tandem OLED touchscreen, and TrendForce forecasts its shipments will reach 1.2-1.5 million units in 2027.

Apple has unveiled the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, which is the first model in the lineup to include a tandem OLED touchscreen. The 14-inch model has a starting price of $2,899. TrendForce reports the display features a pixel density of 254 PPI. Samsung Display is the exclusive panel supplier for the device, using its G8.6 A6 production line at its Asan campus in South Korea.

TrendForce estimates shipments for this new MacBook Pro will reach between 1.2 million and 1.5 million units in 2027. The firm also forecasts that global OLED notebook shipments will grow nearly 40% YoY in 2026 and more than 40% YoY in 2027.

TrendForce notes that meeting the requirements for tandem OLED architecture and 254 PPI presents challenges regarding material costs and manufacturing yields. While LG Display, BOE, and TCL CSOT are conducting qualification programs, TrendForce says these companies are largely focusing on the OLED MacBook Air expected in 2029. TrendForce also suggests that the $2,899 starting price and the availability of existing Mini-LED models might limit near-term demand for replacements.

Background In October, Apple announced that these machines are scheduled to begin shipping on November 6. Our earlier story
